The handset will boot up and will require an IP address. By default, this is requested from a DHCP
server.

An IPUser licence must be available at this stage before the handset can register with the system.
A User account will be automatically created, configured with the next available extension number.

If the Auto Add Phones feature is turned on the Call Server will automatically register the PCS. It
will appear within the Phones section of the configuration under the module, eg 5100, it is
registered to.
If the Auto Add Phones feature is turned off:

In Manager select Unassigned Phones

The MAC address of the PCS will identify the unit connected. Click on the unit required

From the Status list box select Member

Select Update when ready

The unit will now appear under Phones section of the configuration under the module, eg
S8000, it is registered to.
Please refer to the Using Auto Add Phones section from page 13 for further details.

The Home page presenting the SpliceCom logo, the User’s name, extension number, system
name and the date and time will be displayed once the installation is complete.
The User account, eg Extn2017, created during the installation can be view via Manager within the Users
section. Alternatively, view the handset via the Phones section of Manager and click on the User name at
the bottom of the configuration form.
The User’s Initial Phone fiel
d displays the name of the PCS that is
assigned to this User. Click on the link as an alternative method to view the database settings for the
handset.
Please refer to the Configuring an IP Phone sections from page 91 and Working with Users section from
page 94 for further details.
The network configuration of each handset can be configure via Setnet as described below in the Setting
the IP Address and Network Configuration section from page 54.
PCS573G phones support HID headsets, via the USB port. This includes USB headsets and paired
Bluetooth headsets. The headsets that are currently supported are Plantronics BT300M, Jabra PRO 9470
and Jabra GO 6470. HID Support allows telephone calls to be answered and then terminated by using a
button built into the headsets.
Setting the Password
When using Telnet to, for example, upgrad
e the phone or change its IP Address. The phone’s password
is entered to authorise these changes. By default this is set to 7388 but this password can be changed as
follows:

In Manager, from the Navigation pane, select Phones

Select the module that the phone is connected to, eg Call Server

The MAC address of the unit will identify the specific phone required

Select the phone required

In the Password field enter the alpha-numeric characters required
