One 49,000-microfarad capacitor is wired in parallel with the –48 Vdc
power-supply lines on the power-distribution shelf. If the dc input voltage
drops to less than –42.5 Vdc, the capacitor discharges to maintain the
input voltage to the +5-Vdc power supplies for approximately 5 ms. This
input voltage permits the CPU to complete all tasks in progress and
prepare to reboot when power is restored.
The three components of the XC1000 power system are as follows:
The –48 Vdc power-distribution assembly is located on the power-
distribution shelf. The –48 Vdc power-control assembly is located
below the +5-Vdc power supplies and above the +12-Vdc power
supplies. The power-control assembly routes –48 Vdc power from the
power-distribution shelf to the main backplane.
