14. Verify that dip-switch 3 on S1 is set to the OPEN/OFF position.
Dip-switch 4 on S1 is not used.
15. The new, final 3 digits of the CPU P/N and new revision number (002,

label over the final 3 digits and revision number of the existing Octel
P/N on the CPU (Figure 12-7).
16. Replace the CPU in the XC1000.
17. Install the ACP hardware, if purchased. Refer to the ACP

Instruction P/N 181–1088–000, revision B, for more information about

19. Monitor the CPU diagnostics. The XC1000 should report a memory
size of 1000000 (16 MB in hexadecimal), and all tests should report
“PASSED.” If memory size is reported incorrectly or any memory test
reports “FAILED,” turn off the power and check that the SIMMs are
inserted correctly and that dip-switches on S1 are set correctly.
20. When the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND:
prompt appears, turn off power
to the XC1000 and allow the drives to spin all the way down until the
actuator clicks.
If the XC1000 passes all power-on tests, proceed to section 12.8. Discard
the old SIMMs.

original system-drive 0, record its serial number, and place it in
system-drive-slot 1.
3. Place the master drive in system-drive-slot 0.
4. Connect the cable from the primary SMT into the J50 connector on
the distribution board.
5. Turn on power to the XC1000.

to exit the terminal-selection screen.
8. From the
