to return to the FCP conversion Main Menu.
h. Disconnect the cable from the SMT port (J50) and plug it back
into the J43 port as shown in Figure 17-57.
i.
Plug the other cable that was disconnected (in step a) back into
the SMT port (J50) as shown in Figure 17-57.
If communication problems still occur after the COM 2 port and cable
are checked, contact the Octel TAC for assistance.
Stage 22.
The FCP conversion program deinstalls system-drive 1.
Stage 30.
The FCP conversion program downloads the special IPL2
files, which allow the new EPROM to perform the boot process.
Stage 40.
The FCP conversion program reboots the XC1000.
Stage 42.
The FCP conversion program downloads additional XC1000
software files. Do not interrupt the XC1000 while it is transferring
these files. If the XC1000 is interrupted, use the backup drive to
recover and begin the conversion again.
Stage 50.
You are prompted to change the file-card EPROMs and
increase CPU memory, if necessary. You also perform other hardware
changes, if required.
After the XC1000 boots, the screen displays an IPL 73 code for the
system, phrase, and message drives. This IPL code means that only
drives 0 and 1 are running, even if multiple drives are installed. An
example of an IPL display on an XC1000 with four message drives
installed is 73 0F 00 03 00 XX XX XX XX XX. This IPL code is normal,
because the XC1000 has information that has not been updated yet.
Additionally, the prompt table appears to be corrupted. However, the
table is not corrupted; it simply has not been updated yet.
The XC1000 begins upgrading the system drives. If power is inter-
rupted, the database might be damaged. If damage to the database
occurs, use the backup drive for recovery.
Stage 60.
The FCP conversion program downloads additional software.
Stage 71.
The FCP conversion program boots the XC1000 and
accesses the menu 20 utilities in the offline mode. If the XC1000 does
not have enough CPU memory, it dumps and displays the CPU
Diagnostics menu. Verify that the amount of CPU memory is correct.
If necessary, turn off the XC1000 and add memory to the CPU. After
adding memory, turn on the XC1000 and select the
Perform/Continue
Conversion
option from the FCP conversion Main Menu to continue
with the FCP conversion.
After the XC1000 boots into the menu 20 utilities, the FCP conversion
program performs the phrase conversion. CB messages logged during
the phrase conversion might indicate that a bad track has been
encountered. Use the procedure in section 17.13 to add the bad
track to the bad-track table.
Stage 80.
The FCP conversion program boots the XC1000 and
accesses the Verify Utilities menu. The program prompts you to run
the drive-verify and validity-check utilities, options 10 and 11. After
completing the validity checks, press
F12
to continue the conversion.
