XC1000 Service
SITE PREPARATION CHECKLIST
Use the following checklist as a guide in preparing for XC1000 installation.
Make sure that the items on this list are completed before the scheduled
installation date. Before beginning any electrical or power work, consult an
Octel Communications field service engineer or customer technician.
Environment
Operational Temperature:
Maintain 35
o
F to 95
o
F (2
o
C to 35
o
C).
Avoid wide fluctuations in temperature.
Relative Humidity:
Maintain 20% to 80%, noncondensing.
Heat Dissipation:
Maintain 5500 Btu/hr, for a single cabinet,
11,000 Btu/hr for a dual cabinet.
System Information
Clearance:
Allow 36 inches of clearance at the front and back of
the cabinets for maintenance access.
System Dimensions:
64 inches high, 26 inches wide, 19 inches
deep per cabinet.
System Weight:
500 pounds minimum to 700 pounds maxi-
mum, per cabinet.
Terminal and Printer Location:
Prepare a location within 50
cable-feet of the XC1000 (preferably next to the system) for a
direct connection for the SMT and printer. Octel provides a
25-foot cable. If the SMT must be located more than 50 cable-
feet from the XC1000, data sets must be used, with the cable to
the data set on the XC1000 side including a null-modem
adapter.
Power
Single Cabinet:
Requires 30 A maximum at –48 Vdc. Maximum
power, 1500 W.
Dual Cabinet:
Requires 60 A maximum at –48 Vdc. Maximum
power, 1500 W per cabinet.
Power Feeds:
Provision power at 60 A if an expansion is planned
from single- to dual-cabinet configuration. Power is distributed on
a common power bus in a dual-cabinet system and is fed into the
first cabinet.
Two 30 A feeds will NOT properly service the
XC1000.
