RELEASE 4.1 SYSTEM UTILITIES
20.1 OVERVIEW
Software Release 4.1 adds an optional Online CDR utility. Online CDR is a
tool that you can use to review Octel Call Detail Records (CDR
t
) events
directly from the system manager terminal (SMT) without having to
download data to a PC. The utility can be used to track and troubleshoot
information related to any event that occurs on the XC1000, including
networking, fax, paging, outcalling, and subscriber activities. You should be
familiar with Octel PC/CDR before using this utility.
Online CDR allows you to perform customized searches. These searches
can be for specific ranges of dates and times and can target mailboxes,
ports, message IDs, and/or events. You can enter any combination of
search criteria. The search results are those events that match all the
criteria entered.
Online CDR uses the same data as CDR and the Octel DecisionPro
t
Reporting Package, but it does not affect the collection of CDR events
or the operation of Octel PC/CDR or DecisionPro.
20.2 ONLINE CDR UTILITY
The following sections describe new CDR events, how to access the Online
CDR Utility menu, how to display CDR event codes and online CDR data,
and how to enable and disable CDR buffer alarms.
20.2.1 DESCRIBING NEW CDR EVENTS
Two new CDR events are especially useful for the Online CDR utility, as
follows:
-
Message count event (MSGCNT)
-
Message review event (MSGRVW)
You must enable these events in menu 16.1.4 for the XC1000 to collect
these records. Refer to the
Octel Call Detail Records
manual, Addendum IV,
for details about configuring menu 16.1.4 and for detailed descriptions of
CDR events.
Caution!
If you enable either of the two new CDR events, the CDR
buffer will fill up faster than before because additional
events are being recorded. Make sure you monitor the in-
creased activity in the buffer to ensure that the CDR data
in the buffer is not overwritten and lost.
