RELEASE 2.X UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
13-21
Edition One
XC1000 Service
1. Select option
3
from menu 6 and press the
Enter
key.
2. Menu 6.3 (Figure 12-14) appears on the screen. The channel number
that appears in the
Channel
column corresponds to the connector on
the main distribution board that is used for each function (Table
13-1). Although channel 4 is configured for
Service
in the
Active
Type
column, channel 4 is also used for the primary SMT.
3. In the
Channel Number To Be Defined:
field, enter
1
through
4
for
the selected channel.
4. In the
Channel Type:
field, enter one of the following values:
1 – System Terminal
2 – PC-based Multiple Terminal Access (MTA)
3 – Direct CPU Integration
4 – ACP-based Multiple Terminal Access (MTA)
Channel 4 is used for the primary SMT.
5. In the
CPU Baud Rate:
field, enter one of the following values:
1
– 1200 Baud
2 – 9600 Baud
Use menu 6.3 to change XC1000’s CPU baud rate for the terminal
channel, replacing the method of pressing the
Break
key twice. The
baud-rate setting on the SMT itself is still configured using the
Shift
and
Setup
keys, as described in Chapter Three of the
Release 1
XC1000 System Manager Manual
.
6. In the
Type of Terminal on This Channel:
field, select one of the
following:
1 – Wyse 50 or HP 700/43
2 – AT&T 4425/5425
3
– DEC VT102/220
7. Press the
Send
key to save the changes. The changes entered appear
in the
Stored Type:
field for channel 4, but not in the
Active Type:
field until the XC1000 has been rebooted.
If desired, repeat these steps to configure another system-manager termi-
nal. The changes entered appear in the
Stored Type:
field for the specified
channel. The XC1000
must
be rebooted before the changes in the
Active
Type:
field take effect and the integration link becomes functional. After
the link is functional, the baud rate can be changed in menu 6.3 and is
updated when menu 6 is exited.
Each terminal’s configuration is independent of the others. For example,
terminal 1 could have the baud rate set to 1200 and be a DEC VT102
terminal, and terminal 2 could have a baud rate of 9600 and be an
HP700/43 terminal.
When XC1000 has more than one SMT, menus 11, 13, 14, 15, and 16
cannot be used simultaneously by multiple terminals. The first terminal to
use one of these menus has control until exiting that menu. Menus 7
through 10 can be used simultaneously, but simultaneous access to the
same class of service or mailbox is not allowed. Menus 1 through 6 can be
viewed by another terminal, but cannot be changed until the first terminal
exits the menu.
