Number of Rings for on-PBX Calls (Used for ECP):
field, enter
a number that is one less than the number of ring cycles allowed on
the Centrex before forwarding calls to XC1000. The maximum
number is

If XC1000 is not connected to a Centrex, enter the same number as
entered in the
Number of Rings for Local and Long Distance Calls
(Used for Outcalls):
field. If XC1000 is connected to a Centrex and ECP
mailboxes and uses transfer supervision, an entry is required in this field.
The number of rings for the transfer should be less than the number
of rings allowed before the Centrex forwards the call to XC1000.
There- fore, set the
Number of Rings for on-PBX Calls (Used for
ECP):
field in XC1000 to three rings and the number of rings before
forwarding calls in Centrex to four rings. This setting allows XC1000
to inform the caller that the called party is unavailable.
5. In the
Sender ID Used for Telephone-Answering Messages:
field,
enter a code for calling-party identification that is used by XC1000 in
the telephone-answering mode. Enter one of the following codes:

if XC1000 uses standalone, interfaced, or in-band integ-
ration. XC1000 does not seek calling-party identification, as all
calls left in telephone-answering mode are from outside callers.

if XC1000 should use the calling-party identification
provided by the switch. This feature allows subscribers to reply
to telephone-answering messages if (1) the message originator has
a telephone number on the switch and a corresponding mailbox in
XC1000 and (2) the switch is integrated with XC1000 through an
RS-232 link.
6. Press the
Enter
key when menu 1.1 is complete to save the entries. Press
any key to return to menu 1, then press
^C
to return to the Main Menu.
The system manager enters the data in menus 2 through 5, then the installer
completes the fields in the submenus of menu 6. Entering data in menu 6 is
discussed in the following section.
4.8 ESTABLISHING DIALING AND SERIAL-CHANNEL
PARAMETERS
Menu 6 allows dialing sequences and serial-channel options for various
XC1000 functions to be specified. Menu 6 comprises six screens: the basic
menu showing options for dialing-sequence and serial-channel options, as
shown in Figure 4-28. Select one of the options to access a submenu.
