8. Turn off power to the XC1000. Wait about 30 seconds for the drives to
stop spinning, then remove the backup drive from drive-slot two.
8.4.9.2
Copying System Data to the Replacement Drive.
Complete the following
steps to copy system data to the replacement drive:
1. Place the replacement drive in system-drive-slot two.
2. Turn on power to the XC1000. At the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND
:
prompt, type
^DI
to enter the INSTALL OPTIONS: menu.
3. Selection option D – INITIALIZE DRIVE to initialize the replacement
drive (in slot 2) as a system drive.
4. When the replacement drive is initialized, press
^C
twice to return to
the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND
:
prompt.
5. Type
^DC
at the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND
:
prompt to enter the COPY
OPTIONS: menu.
6. Enter
D
to select the
SYSTEM [ALL OF THE ABOVE]
option. When a
response to each prompt is entered, the next prompt appears on the screen.
When the prompt appears showing the drive serial numbers (xxxxxx
and yyyyyy in the example below), verify that the serial numbers are
correct before proceeding. Answer the prompts as shown below.

7. Press any key to return to the COPY OPTIONS: menu.
8. Press
X
, then press the
Enter
key to exit from the COPY OPTIONS:
menu. When the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND:
prompt appears, turn off
power to the XC1000. Wait until the cooling fans stop spinning; by this
time, the drives will have spun down (approximately 30 to 60 seconds).
8.4.9.3
Moving the Replacement Drive to System-Drive-Slot Zero.
Complete
the following steps to replace system-drive zero with the replacement drive:
1. Remove the defective drive from system-drive-slot zero. Label it and set
it aside.
Do not use permanent markers of any type to label a drive.
2. Remove the replacement drive from system-drive-slot two. Place the
drive in system-drive-slot zero.
3. Turn on power to the XC1000.
