XC1000 Service
1. Make sure that the correct equipment is available (section 14.3).
2. Enable the engineering bit and disable all ports (section 14.4).
3. Calculate user-record availability (section 14.5).
4. Print relevant menus and run validity checks and garbage collect
(section 14.6).
5. Load SoftKlone MIRROR software, the FCP conversion tool, and
software and phrase diskettes (section 14.7).
6. Configure the hardware between the PC and the XC1000 (section
14.8).
7. Perform the FCP conversion (section 14.9).
8. Disable the engineering bit (section 14.10).
9. Purge and convert follow-me-forward mailboxes (section 14.11).
14.3 ENSURE THAT THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT IS
AVAILABLE
The equipment required for performing an FCP conversion from Release
1.5X or 2.X to Release 3.02 is described in sections 14.3.1 through 14.3.3.
Do not install new equipment at this time; simply make
sure that the equipment is already installed or that
replacement equipment is on hand. Do not begin an FCP
conversion unless all equipment is available.
Caution!
Specific procedural steps have been defined for physically upgrading any
necessary hardware or software.
14.3.1 Determining Hardware for the PC and the XC1000
The following hardware is a mixture of equipment required to perform an
FCP conversion and the logic cards that should be installed in the XC1000
by the end of the FCP conversion. If the cards differ in revision and part
number before the FCP conversion, have new cards on hand to be up-
graded during the FCP conversion.
If you have questions or concerns regarding card configurations and part
numbers, contact your Octel sales representative.
The following hardware is required for the PC:
Octel recommends the specified PC, although any 80386
or 80486 PC can be used so long as the processor, COM
port, RAM, and free space requirements are met. Anything
below a 386 PC is not supported.
