Installing the New Message-Drive Module.
Complete the following steps
to install the new drive module in the cabinet and in system software:
1. Call the Octel Communications Technical Assistance Center and
request that the service option be enabled.
2. Shut down the XC1000 using menu 13.1.
3. When the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND:
prompt appears, turn off power
to the XC1000.
4. Insert the new message-drive module in the appropriate message drive slot.
5. Turn on power to the XC1000.
6. Type
^DI
at the
ENTER BOOT COMMAND
:
prompt to enter the
INSTALL OPTIONS: menu.
7. Select
D
for the initialize-drive option. Initialize the new drive as a
message drive by answering the prompts as shown below:
SELECT DRIVE TO INITIALIZE (1, M0-M7): Mx
DRIVE Mx SELECTED
CONTINUE (Y OR N)? Y
DRIVE INITIALIZED
SELECT DRIVE TO INITIALIZE (1, M0-M7):

is the number of the slot where the new message drive is
placed.
8. When the
SELECT DRIVE TO INITIALIZE (1, M0-M7):
prompt appears
after the new message drive is initialized, type
^C
to return to the
INSTALL OPTIONS: menu, unless additional drives need to be initialized.
9. Enter

to select the install-drive option. At the
SELECT DRIVE TO
INSTALL (1, M0-M7):
prompt, type
Mx
, where

is the number of the
drive slot where the new message drive is placed.
