-inch-wide paper. Either wide computer paper or printing in
condensed print mode is required. Use the procedure in section 4.2.3.1 to change
to wide computer paper or section 4.2.3.2 to print in condensed-print mode.
4.2.3.1
Changing to Wide Computer Paper.
Perform the following steps to use wide
computer paper in the printer:
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Install the wide paper.
3. Return to the printer offline setup mode by pressing
MODE
while
turning the printer back on. The printer prints out the setup-mode
settings (Figure 4-2). Refer to section 4.3.3, item 3, for information
about the printout.

5. Press

and select
SAVE&END
to exit the setup mode.
6. Turn the printer off to save the new width value.
7. Turn the printer back on. The printer is now ready for printing on
wide paper.
To return the printer to normal operation, return to the printer offline setup
mode and repeat steps 3 through 7 to reset the width to 8.0.

Printing in Condensed-Print Mode.
Perform the following steps to print
in condensed-print mode:
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Press
MODE
while turning the printer back on. Continue pressing
MODE
until the printer beeps.
3. Press
MODE
until the red cursor on the plastic print guide is posi-
tioned beneath the MENU1 option in the FUNCTION menu.

to select
MENU1

5. Press

seven more times to reach the ATTRIB menu. Each time
FF
is pressed, the printer prints an item in MENU1

twice to select the
CONDNSD
option.

to return to the FUNCTION menu.
9. Press
FF
and select
SAVE&END
to save the new values. The printer is
ready to print in condensed mode.
To return the printer to normal operation, return to the offline setup mode
and perform the steps in section 4.2.3.
