Edition One
XC1000 Service
provide system access to voice and data records stored on the drives. Each file
card has 8 MB of RAM. The file cards communicate with the system-drive and
message-drive modules through the main backplane and disk backplanes.
The system-file card determines where data is stored and controls the system
software, data tables, and phrases. The system-file card also contains a
speech-cache memory. The speech-cache memory stores frequently accessed
prompts that are shorter than or equal to 3 seconds, which reduces the
amount of time the file card must spend retrieving prompts from disk drives.
The message-file card determines where messages are stored and performs
the read and write operations to and from the disk drives.
In a standby-redundant XC1000, there are two logic-card sets; LEDs on the
front of the redundant XC1000 provide information about which card set is
active and performing the normal functions of the file cards.
LEDs are provided on the front edges of the file cards to indicate the status
of the card. Table 10-4 shows the LEDs and their functions.
