(4) Periodic
When pressing the
Periodic
button, the system will
periodically stabilize at the pre-set focal position. If
0
is entered in the
Interval
input window, stabilization
will be continuous.
A blinking green message
- Stabilizing -
indicates
that the Definite focus is permanently stabilizing
(Fig. 156).
During operation in continuous mode the
Periodic
button is highlighted as pressed.
To stop periodic stabilization the highlighted
Periodic
button has to be pressed once again.
For time interval stabilization, a suitable interval time
has to be entered in the
Interval
input box along
with choosing a suitable time unit from the
units
drop down menu (Fig. 157). In this case the message
- Stabilizing -
will be permanently displayed during
operation regardless if the Definite Focus is currently
stabilizing or in waiting position. From the
units
drop
down menu you can choose between seconds
s
,
minutes
min
hours
h
and days
d
(Fig. 158). During
operation in interval mode the
Periodic
button is
highlighted as pressed.
To stop periodic stabilization the highlighted
Periodic
button has to be pressed once again.
If the Definite Focus receives no or a too weak signal
during periodic stabilization the
Status:
line will
display
- Error -
in red letters.
A
Periodic
stabilization will be interrupted by
pressing the
Find Surface
or
Recall Focus
buttons, but will be resumed after the reflex
finding or stabilization procedures have been
finished.
When changing the focus during
Periodic
stabilization the new focus position will be the
new stabilization position when the stand’s
Z-Drive is regulated by the Definite focus (
Use
Z Piezo
check box inactive). In contrast, if the
Definite Focus controls the Z-Piezo stage (
Use Z
Piezo
check box active), the original focus
position will be kept as the position to stabilize
on.
Periodic
stabilization triggered from the
Definite Focus
tool will run asynchronously to
image acquisition. In contrast, stabilization
triggered from the
Focus Device and
Strategies
tool will work synchronously.
