Slightly focus up and down using the stand’s Z-drive
until your sample is in focus.
Read the actual Z-position (offset between definite
Focus and sample focus) in the
Z-Position
input box
of the
Focus
tool display window and enter the
number in the
Offset
input box of the
Definite
Focus
tool window (Fig. 153).
The next time
Find Surface
is executed the offset
will be added to the ‘reflex’ position (Fig. 154).
(3) Store Focus
When pressing the
Store Focus
button (Fig. 155) the
system will store the current sample Z-position as the
position the Definite Focus will stabilize on when
pressing
Periodic
or
Recall Focus
.
There will be no feedback in the software
which the current focus position is that was
selected by pressing the
Store Focus
button.
Nor will be the
Store Focus
button be
highlighted. When the focus is changed and
the new position should be used for the
Definite Focus, the
Store Focus
button has to
be pressed again, otherwise the old position
will be used.
