CHAPTER 4
CONFIGURATION SETUP
6.2.21 LLDP and LLDP-MED
This section explains how to assign data for Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) and LLDP-Media
Endpoint Discovery (LLDP-MED) on DT700 Series terminals.
DT700 Series supports LLDP, a standard Neighbor Discovery protocol, and can exchange information
about themselves with adjacent network nodes such as IP/SIP terminals and other LLDP-capable devic-
es. It also automatically performs some network settings upon receiving LLDP packets.
With LLDP Mode enabled, DT700 Series begins to transmit and receive LLDP packets after startup. It
transmits LLDP packets from the LAN port at periodic intervals defined by LLDP Packet Transmission
Interval (
), and holds the latest available LLDP packet received on the LAN port
). When the LLDP Auto Setting Mode is enabled, it performs self-configuration based on the
information learned from the received LLDP packet.
Note 1:
LLDP packets are also transmitted in the following cases that LLDP packet contents to be advertised
are changed.
• The Reception Waiting Time (RX Waiting Time) has timed out.
• IP address is allocated via DHCP
• ToS value is defined by the Telephony Server.
Note 2:
When DT700 Series transmits LLDP packets within LLDP Packet Transmission Interval, it sets LLDP
Packet Transmission Interval based on the transmitted LLDP packet in the last time and transmits
packets with the interval.
Note 3:
LLDP packets are not transmitted from the PC port except when the LLDP Transparent Mode is en-
abled.
Note 4:
LLDP packets will be discarded in the following cases where:
• LLDP packets are received on the PC port except when LLDP Transparent Mode is enabled.
• LLDP packets are received from network devices other than switches (IP/SIP terminal, PC, for
example).
• LLDP packets whose LLDP-MED Capabilities TLV/LLDP-MED Device Type are not Connectivity
Device Definition (04H).
