Machine submodes
The machine can operate in three different submodes:
The three machine submodes must be clearly distinguished from
the six activity fields of the control system:
The submodes of the machine cannot be selected directly by
pressing buttons on the user interface of the control system. The six
activity fields of the control system can be selected at the press of a
button. The machine can be in different machine submodes within
these activity fields. The corresponding submode is indicated by a
symbol in the status bar, depending on the function selected by the
operator.

AUTOMATIC submode
The machine can only operate in the PRODUCTION activity field in
AUTOMATIC submode. This machine submode is indicated by the
"AUTO" symbol in the status bar of the user interface.
If an NC program is to be executed fully automatically, the NC
program must be split up and stored in the program manager of the
control system. The program is selected and executed in the
PRODUCTION activity field in AUTOMATIC machine submode.

PROGRAMMING activity.

TOOLING activity.

MAINTENANCE/INITIAL START-UP activity.

Definition
This is the submode for the fully automatic execution of part
programs.
Prerequisite
The machine does not change over to AUTOMATIC mode until the
reference points of the axes have been approached.
