Air is permanently blown horizontally through the nozzle body of
the welding head during machining. This seal of air prevents dirt or
slag particles from infiltrating the beam guideway and
contaminating the parabolic mirror. The blowing pressure is set by
means of the restrictor valve on the instrument panel.
TwistLas-
Laser welding with bifocal technology (optional)
The TwistLas option is a welding technique which is used to
improve jumpering of gap tolerances, mainly in processing alu-
minum and aluminum alloys.
These materials place particularly high demands on the welding
technology, since during the welding process an extremely thin
molten mass is produced which can easily result in an unstable
seam. Seam splitting is reduced considerably and the process
consistency and quality of the welding seam is increased by means
of the bifocal technology with TwistLas. The available laser power
and the focus distance influence the welding result considerably.
A stepped spherical focusing mirror is used in the welding head to
divide the normally circular focus point (focus) into two semicircular
focus points at a defined focus distance. The focusing distance can
vary depending on the mirror used between 0.4 mm and 1.2 mm.
The focus position is not affected by the rotation of the B axis.
A double focus point can also be achieved by using a roof mirror in
the angular gear. Rotation of the B axis changes the orientation of
the focus points.
