Adaptive Bandwidth Notification Overview
Adaptive Bandwidth Notification (ABN), also known as Ethernet Operation
and Maintenance (EOAM), enables third party applications to learn about
bandwidth changes in a radio link when ACM is active. Once ABN is enabled,
the radio unit reports bandwidth information to upstream third-party
switches.
The ABN entity creates a logical relationship between a radio interface or a
logical group of radio interfaces, called the Monitored Interface, and an
Ethernet interface or a logical group of Ethernet interface, called the Control
Interface. When bandwidth degrades from the nominal value in the Monitored
Interface, messages relaying the actual bandwidth values are periodically sent
over the Control Interface. A termination message is sent once the bandwidth
returns to its nominal level.
