Cleaning the EPC Solenoid Valve
Disassembly
To dissassemble and clean the EPC solenoid valve (Figure 9-5), follow these steps:
1. Open the enclosure door to the VC350A control.
2. Shut off the air supply to the VC350A control.
3. Remove the air supply lines from the EPC manifold.
4. Mark the air supply lines.
5. Remove the four screws and washers holding the EPC manifold into the enclosure.
6. Pull the EPC manifold partially out of the enclosure, ensuring that you do not pull or stress the wiring or
internal air lines.
7. Using a pair of channel lock pliers, very carefully loosen the base of the solenoid from the EPC manifold.
Do only one solenoid at a time.
8. Check the solenoid orifice and manifold ports for dirt or clogs.
9. Clean solenoid orifice with a dry cloth.
10. Unscrew the knurled thumbnut from the solenoid body. (Do not lose the diaphragm and washer from the
solenoid body.)
11. Using a clean dry cloth, clean any dust or dirt particles from the inside of the EPC solenoid valve.
Assembly
To assemble the EPC solenoid valve, follow these steps:
1. Assemble the solenoid valve in the reverse order of the disassembly steps.
Note! Close attention should be paid to the orientation of the internal diaphragm and washer.
2. When reassembling the solenoid valve, be careful not to overtighten. Overtightening will crush the seals
and cause air leaks.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other solenoid.
4. Put the manifold back into the enclosure and tighten, using the four screws and washers.
5. Reconnect the air lines back into the manifold to the proper ports.
6. Turn on the air supply to the VC350A control.
