Applicator Assembly
To set the angle of the applicator head (Figure 6-12), follow these steps:
Note! The following procedure applies only to valves on top-down or bottom-up glue stations (the combination
glue station is pre-adjusted).
1. Stop the parent machine with product under the glue applicator head.
2. Use the head-angle gauge supplied with the system to check angle of head (Figure 14).
Note! The angle should be approximately 35°.When the angle is 35°, the applicator head will just touch the
round bar
3. To adjust the angle, loosen the valve and support, set the angle, and lock into place.
4. Position the support against the head and tighten the support bolts.
Note! The aluminum backing plate may be marked for reference.
Backup Spring
The backup spring (Figure 6-12) positions the box against the applicator head. The backup spring locks into
position with two nuts on the mounting shaft.
To set the tension on the backup spring, follow these steps:
1. Place product between the applicator head and the backup spring.
2. Loosen the rear mounting nut and press the backup spring firmly against the product.
3. Tighten the backup spring into position, ensuring that it does not hold the product too tightly.
Note! The box must be held firmly without restricting its movement through the glue station.
