Calibration Potentiometer
The calibration potentiometer (Figure 7-5) protects the unit against excessive motor voltage when a system is in the
automatic mode. To adjust the calibration potentiometer, follow these steps:
1. Place selector switch in the AUTO position.
2. Set glue flow control knob to a full clockwise position.
3. Run the parent machine at the highest production speed (the fastest speed at which glue will be applied).
4. The calibration potentiometer should be adjusted so that armature voltage reads 180VDC (circuit board
terminals A1 and A2). A clockwise rotation will increase the voltage.

Torque Potentiometer
The torque potentiometer (Figure 7-6) protects both the motor and control against high surge currents. It will be
factory set to match the horsepower of a particular motor, and should not be field-adjusted. Adjustment is required
only if the hot-melt motor is being changed to a different horsepower rating. Consult Valco’s engineering depart-
ment for adjustment procedures.
