Repairing the 08 Glue Valve
Disassembly
To repair and and/or clean the 08 glue valve (Figure 9-2), follow these steps:
1. Remove the air line from the air port of the valve.
2. Place a container under the valve.
3. Disconnect the glue line from the glue port of the valve.
4. Seal the glue line with tape or a plug.
5. Remove the valve from the mounting bracket.
6. Place the valve over the container, and remove the nozzle from the adapter. (This step is not necessary if
the nozzle is an integral part of the adapter.)
7. Using a 3-mm Allen wrench, remove the four socket-head screws (19).
8. Remove the adapter.
9. Unscrew and remove the housing (18).
10. Remove the piston (17) from the housing (18) by performing one of the following steps:
10a. Insert a long, narrow tool through the air inlet port at the top of the pneumatic housing and push
down.
10b. Dislodge the piston by striking the housing against a flat surface.
11. Inspect the piston seal (16) for damage. Replace seal if required.
12. Using an adjustable wrench, secure the stroke-adjustment nut (14) in place.
13. Using a 10 mm wrench, loosen and remove the locknut (15).
14. Unscrew and remove the stroke-adjustment nut (14).
15. Remove the compression spring (13) and the spring bushing (12).
16. Using a spanner wrench (794xx891), remove the tension nut (11). The valve may be put in a vice for this
step.
17. Remove the spring (10) from the shaft (9).
18. Press the shaft (9) down and out of the bottom of the valve body (1).
19. Inspect the shaft for damage. There should be no scratches or grooves on the sealing area.
20. Remove the seat (8) from the exterior bottom of the valve. Replace the shaft if necessary.
Note!
The seat cannot be used, it must be replaced.
21. Remove the cartridge (4) by inserting a screwdriver or similar tool through the bottom of the valve body
and pushing the cartridge out.
Note!
The seals and O-ring will still be in the cartridge.
WARNING! The system's hydraulic and pneumatic pressures must be re-
lieved before the 08 HP valve is serviced.
