Lubricating the Air Line
5:1 ratio piston pumps require lubrication of the air line. To lubricate the air line, follow these steps:
1. Periodically check the oil level in the air-line oiler.
2. Add oil if necessary.
3. The 5:1 piston pump has a throat seal cup (also filled with oil) and a packing nut that require periodic
tightening. Tighten the packing nut periodically to ensure that adhesive does not leak past the packing.
CAUTION! Do not tighten the packing nut too much. THE PUMP MAY
NOTCYCLE CORRECTLY IF THE PUMP IS TOO TIGHT. Refer to your
piston pump manual for specific repair and maintenance instructions.
Repairing the Air Solenoid Valve
To repair the air solenoid valve, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the air solenoid valve from the glue valve (Figure 44).
2. If glue is present in either the solenoid or its exhaust, the glue-valve diaphragm may be ruptured. Repair
the glue valve.
3. Disassemble the air solenoid valve.
4. Clean or replace the air solenoid valve.
Note! Step 3 must be completed before the air solenoid valve can be used.
Repairing the 366 Glue Valve
Disassembly
To repair and/or clean the 366 glue valve (Figure 9-1), follow these steps:
1. Have a valve seal kit ready in the event that defective or worn parts are found.
2. Place the valve on a work bench or other solid, flat surface.
3. Loosen the assembly screws (11), the lower retainer (10), and the pilot inlet (2).
4. Remove the stem bottom (13) from the stem screw (3).
5. Remove and disassemble all parts from the stem screw (3).
6. Clean all of the parts in clean water.
7. Inspect the parts and replace all of the parts if any of the parts are worn or defective.
