System

8-3
5. Run a sample product through the glue station.
6. Stop the parent machine before the product is folded and measure the glue pattern (Figure 41).
Note!
The glue pattern should be glue (6 inches, 152.4 mm) - flap (1 inch, 25.4 mm) = 5 inches (127 mm).
7. If the glue pattern is incorrect, ensure that the “flap” and the “glue” switches are in the correct positions. If
glue pattern is still incorrect, see
Section 7—Initial Setup
.
Note
!
The parent machine must run above the minimum speed setting in order for the glue valve to operate.
If the minimum-speed LED is off, the parent machine is running below the minimum speed. The
minimum-speed LED is located on the lower center of the main board.
8. Adjust the fluid-flow control adjust knob on the front panel (Figure 8-4) to increase or decrease the amount
of glue being applied.
Figure 8-4 Glue-Pattern Measurement
Fluid-Flow Control (EPC)
The fluid-flow control (EPC) is enclosed within the VC350A control. The operation interface is a simple adjust
knob that is adjusted from the front panel. A clockwise rotation increases the pressure and a CCW rotation decreases
the pressure.
The amount of pressure seen on the front panel gauge is the air pressure boost that is added to the preset pressure at
the glue regulator. For example, the “T” handle on the glue regulator is normally set at 10 psi. If the EPC pressure is
adjusted to 10 psi at jog speed, then the final pressure at the glue regulator will be 20 psi.
As the parent machine increases in speed, the glue pressure automatically increases. If there is too much glue on the
product at normal operating speed, the pressure-control knob may be used to decrease the glue pressure.
Note!
The glue regulator “T” handle should never be adjusted.
Likewise, as the parent machine decreases in speed, the glue pressure automatically decreases. If there is not enough
glue on the product, the front-panel knob may be used to increase the glue pressure.
Note!
The glue regulator “T” handle should never be adjusted.
