For imperial systems, VDD 500 encoders should be used for inch
measurements, and the JP2 switch on the main board should be in the “STD”
position. The following formula can be used to determine the correct
combination of gear teeth and encoder to achieve a ratio compensation
setting of approximately 1.0000:
= Ratio compensation switch setting
Teeth-S x Counts
Teeth-E 100
Travel —..
Teeth-S= Number of teeth on the line-shaft driver gear
Teeth-E= Number of teeth on the encoder driven gear
Counts = Number of encoder pulses per encoder revolution
Travel = Product travel in inches per revolution of the drive shaft

Example:
Using a 92-tooth split-line shaft gear (driver), a 24-tooth encoder driven gear,
a 500-pulse encoder, and 18 inches of travel per drive shaft revolution.

Therefore, the ratio compensation setting should be 0.9391.
For metric systems, VDD 250 encoders should be used for metric
measurements, and the JP2 switch on the main board should be in the “STD”
position. The following formula can be used to determine the correct
combination of gear teeth and encoder to achieve a ratio compensation
