Glue Application System
The glue application system does not require any initial setup after it has been installed (see the “Installation”
section for information on installing the glue application system).
VC350A Control
To set up the VC350A control (Figures 7-1 and 7-2), follow these steps:
1. Set the glue-flow knob on the front panel of the control to the middle position (12 o’clock position).
2. If you have a two-channel system, select the proper position of the scanner switch (JP1) on the main board
(SC1 enables scanner 1 for channel II; SC2 enables scanner 2 for channel II).
3. Turn on the electrical power to the control unit.
4. Measure the distance from the beginning scanner actuation point to the glue-applicator head.
5. Enter this number in the cell-to-gun (CTG) switches (switches 8-11 on the main board).
6. Set the “Ratio Comp” switches on the main board (see
Section 6—Installation, Wheel-Driven Encoder and
Gear-Driven Encoder
).
7. Turn on gun-selector switch 1 for channel 1 and ensure that the switch is illuminated.
8. Set the front-panel “Flap” and “Glue” switches in order to apply a sample glue pattern. (The longest
possible pattern length will offer the greatest degree of accuracy during this phase of the setup.)
8a. Measure the distance from the leading edge of the product (first edge seen by the scanner) to the point
at which the glue pattern should begin.
8b. Enter this dimension as the “Flap” value on the front panel of the control unit.
Note!
Values can be entered as follows:
1000-line encoder:
99.99 inches or 9999mm
250/500-line encoder:
999.9 inches or 9999mm
8c. Measure the distance from the leading edge (first edge seen by the scanner) to the point at which the
glue pattern should stop.
8d. Enter this dimension as the “Glue” value on the front panel of the control unit.
Note!
Values can be entered as follows:
1000-line encoder:
99.99 inches or 9999mm
250/500-line encoder:
999.9 inches or 9999mm
