ENGINE CONTROL LINKAGES
ACCELERATOR CABLE
See General Warning, Section 1, Page 1-1.

WARNING
• To avoid unintentionally starting the vehicle:
- Disconnect battery cables, negative (–) cable first (Figure 1-2, Page 1-3).
Accelerator Cable Removal
1. Turn the key switch OFF and place the Forward/Reverse handle in NEUTRAL. Remove the key. Chock
the rear wheels.
2. Disconnect the battery cables as instructed.
See WARNING “To avoid unintentionally starting...” in
General Warning, Section 1, Page 1-2.
3. Raise the hood.
4. Remove the passenger seat.
See Seat Removal, Section 4, Page 4-9.
5. Disconnect the Z-shaped end (1) of the accelerator cable from the pedal
(Figure 13c-15, Page 13c-19).
6. Disconnect the cable strain relief at the pedal bracket
(Figure 13c-16, Page 13c-19)

7. Disconnect the Z-shaped end of the accelerator cable from the engine
(Figure 13c-15, Page 13c-19)

8. Remove the cable strain relief from the engine bracket at the engine.
9. Remove the cable from the rubber grommets under the passenger side of the frame and pull the cable
at the dashboard away from the engine compartment.

NOTE:
Tie a nylon cord to the engine end of the cable before it is removed. Allow the cord to travel from
the engine, under the frame, and up to the dashboard. This cord can be used to route the cable
during installation.
