• After installing the fuel tank and adding fuel, carefully check all fuel lines and connections for
leaks. Repair leaks before the vehicle is returned to service.
17. Inspect each fuel line connection for leaks.
17.1. Check all clamps at the carburetor, fuel filters, fuel pump, and fuel tank for leaks.
17.2. Inspect each fuel line to ensure that the lines are not cracked, cut, or worn.
FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE
See General Warning, Section 1, Page 1-1.
The fuel shut-off valve is located on top of the fuel tank
(Figure 13b-7, Page 13b-13)
. The fuel shut-off valve
should always be turned to the closed (OFF) position during vehicle storage, towing or trailering, and mainte-
nance and service
(Figure 13b-9, Page 13b-15)

Fully Open Position
To open the valve fully, it must be turned approximately 120° from the closed (OFF) position (until it cannot be
turned any further)
(Figure 13b-10, Page 13b-15).
If the valve becomes partially closed, the engine will be
starved for fuel and will not run properly
