IP500 Basic Installation: Applying Power
•
Default Short Codes
IP400 control units are manufactured as either A-Law or U-Law variants. For IP500 control units, A-Law or U-Law
variant operation is determined by the IP500 Smart Card installed. Depending on the variant, different sets of
short codes are created for the default configuration. Refer to the IP Office Manager application help for full
details.
•
Default DHCP/Data Settings
When a defaulted IP Office control unit is switched on, it requests IP address information from a DHCP Server on
the network. This operation will occur whether the LAN cable is plugged in or not.
•
If a DHCP server responds within approximately 10 seconds, the control unit defaults to being a DHCP client
and uses the IP address information supplied by the DHCP server.
•
If no DHCP Server responds, the control unit defaults to being the DHCP server for the LAN using the
following settings:
•
For its LAN1 it allocates the IP address 192.168.42.1 and IP Mask 255.255.255.0. It supports 200 DHCP
clients using the addresses range 192.168.42.2 and 192.168.42.201, the IP Mask 255.255.255.0 and
default gateway address 192.168.42.1 (the Control Unit's LAN1 address).
•
For its LAN2 if supported, it allocates the IP address 192.168.43.1 and IP Mask 255.255.255.0.
•
Note that the IP Office does not check that these addresses are valid and or available on the network.
•
This mode of operation will persist for subsequent power ups, until a config save occurs due to one of the
following
•
The unit performs its automatic midnight backup.
•
A configuration is merged using IP Office Manager.
•
A soft reboot is performed using IP Office Manager.
•
A software upgrade is performed.
