Check the cooling system:
CAUTION!
Risk of sustaining burns and loss of property if
the thermal block overheats.
The thermo block will overheat if the temperature
sensor is not fitted to the vessel and/or there is no
liquid in the vessel. This can lead to burns and loss
of property.
Therefore:
– Ensure that the temperature sensor is inserted
into the vessel.
– Ensure that liquid is in the vessel.
8.
Insert the temperature sensor as far as it will go into to the
blind tube in the top plate.
9.
Switch on the equipment at the main switch.
The operating unit switches on automatically, and the system
boots up.
10.
Select the bioreactor.
11.
Open the start dialog.
12.
Set a low setpoint value (e.g. 10 °C) for the temperature pa-
rameter.
13.
Switch on the temperature parameter.
All other parameters remain deactivated. If necessary, switch
them off.
14.
Start the bioreactor.
The cooling system should now be working, i.e. there is an
audible flow of water and water is discharging from the outlet
of the basic unit.
Check the stirrer:
15.
Set the setpoint value for the "stirrer" parameter (e.g. 200
rpm) and switch the parameter on.
The stirrer should now rotate smoothly and evenly in the ves-
sel.
If not, check that the drive shaft is correctly seated in the loca-
tion bearing (stirrer for bacterial cultures).
Check the heating system:
16.
Increase the setpoint of the temperature parameter e.g. to
30 °C.
The thermal block should start to heat up. Check it by touch-
ing it carefully.
