9.6.1 Vessel
CAUTION!
Danger of damaging the stirrer shaft!
Components parts of the stirring system may come
off and become deformed when dismantling the
vessel top plate. Any deformation of the stirrer
shaft can lead to damage of the bearing.
Therefore:
– Dismantle and carefully position the vessel top
plate.
– Ensure that component parts of the stirrer sys-
tem cannot come loose from the vessel top
plate.
NOTICE!
Handling of the closure of the vessel top plate and
the vessel retaining brackets is described in detail
in the subchapter "Preparing the vessel" of the
main chapter "Preparations for Use". Furthermore,
these single steps are not repeatedly described.
General cleaning:
Procedure
1.
Release the clamping ring and carefully take off the vessel top
plate.
2.
Carefully put the vessel top plate on a clean surface.
Ensure that inserted parts of the stirrer system cannot come
off.
3.
Dispose of any leftover liquids from the vessel down the sink.
4.
Gently clean the vessel with a brush or sponge.
Cleaning with remains of dried foam or proteins:
Procedure
1.
Completely fill the vessel with 0.1 N NaOH.
2.
Put the top plate back on the vessel and fasten the clamping
ring again.
3.
Put the vessel back on the base unit and fasten the vessel
retaining brackets to secure the vessel.
4.
Switch on the equipment, start the bioreactor on and stir
strongly for 2 hours by using the stirrer function.
