Averaging in the Sequence is supported with the following limitations.
4. Sequences cannot be averaged. Only individual Analysis Steps within a single Acquisition can be
averaged.
5. The Acquisition is repeated for the Number of Averages and all Analysis Steps with that Acquisition are
averaged.
6. All Analysis Steps are averaged individually and the result returned for each Analysis Step is the
average result.
7. “Pass/Fail” results within the measurement return a “Fail” if any fails occur.
8. Any results that cannot be averaged return the last result.
9. For averaging within an acquisition, there must be a repeating element of the signal during that time. If
the input signal is not repeating, the results are invalid and/or questionable.
10. The repeating elements of the signal within an acquisition must have the same duration. The Transition
time only applies to the last acquisition capture in the average group.
11. The repeating elements of the signal are acquired as one contiguous capture (one acquisition).
12. As with non-averaged measurements, a single trigger event can be used to initiate the acquisition (the
beginning of the first repeating element). Subsequent repeating elements within the acquisition need to
be deterministically offset from this trigger
In the diagram above, if an Acquisition is specified to have 3 averages and 3 Analysis steps each having 1
measurement, then the List Sequence measurement expects the DUT to output 3 identical signals. The
output metrics for measurement 1 returns one result for each index in the measurement. The average is
set a, b, and c.
