Basic Frequency and Phase Error Results
Two results are returned, which are the Phase Error and Frequency Error over the analysis interval set for
this measurement, with reference to the frequency set for the acquisition.
The SCPI-only header values are as follows:
Meas Bitmap is a floating point number which appears ahead of the results for the analysis interval; it is a
decimal representation of the meas bitmap value for the measurements included in the interval. The value
returned for Basic Frequency and Phase Error results is 2. If more than one measurement is included in this
analysis step, then the value returned represents the combined meas bitmap value for all included
measurements, and the results are returned in ascending order of their meas bitmap values.
Number Of Results is a floating point number which appears ahead of the results of a measurement within
the analysis interval; it represents the number of results metrics returned by the measurement. The value
returned for Basic Frequency and Phase Error results is 3.
Metric Results returned are:

Pass/Fail Result shows the test result against the “Limit: Freq Error” ppm value.
0:Pass, 1:Fail, –1:Not tested
1
Frequency Error is a floating point number that represents the frequency error in Hz between the test set’s tuned
analyzer freq for the acquisition and the current analysis step. The frequency error is the average of all samples in
the measurement interval of the analysis step. This is the difference between the measured phase trajectory and
the reference phase trajectory.
2
Phase Error is a floating point number that represents the phase error in degrees between the test set’s tuned
analyzer phase for the acquisition and the current analysis step. The phase of each sample in the analysis interval is
calculated and averaged. The result returned is an average of the phase of each sample.
