24.2.9.1 Offset Calibration
When offset calibration is selected (GCR.CALMODE = 01
B
), both amplifier inputs of the
selected channel are connected to
V
FAREF
/2. The ideal result in this case would be 512.
After a settling time of minimum 5 µs, start a conversion for this channel. Noise can be
reduced by averaging several subsequent conversions. Now compare the conversion
result with the ideal result of 512.
Adjust the offset calibration value (bitfield ACRx.CALOFF, where x is the calibrated
channel) and repeat the conversion(s). Increase CALOFF for results below 512,
decrease CALOFF for results above 512.
Note: Bitfield CALOFF is a signed number composed of bitfields CALOFF3 and
CALOFF[2:0] (with a zero-bit inbetween).
The calibration process is finished when the conversion result crosses the ideal value of
512. Use the offset calibration value (CALOFF) that produces the result closest to 512.
Switch back to normal operating mode (GCR.CALMODE = 00
B
).
After a settling time of minimum 5 µs, standard conversion for this channel can be
executed.
After an offset calibration has been finished for a channel, its gain can also be calibrated.
