You can upgrade the IBM

server with Intel

II Xeon

microprocessors. This Processor
Upgrade Kit contains a new processor assembly that
includes the processor board and a terminator card. It
does not include the microprocessors, voltage regulator
modules (VRM), or memory modules.
This section provides instructions for installing the
Processor Upgrade Kit. It also includes the installation
instructions for the microprocessors, VRMs, and the
memory modules.
Before you begin
Read through these instructions to familiarize yourself with
the installation procedure.

You must install the following companion options with the
Processor Upgrade Kit:
1. You can install one or two microprocessor kits in the
server. To avoid damage and ensure proper server
operation when you install a new or an additional
microprocessor, use microprocessors that have the
same cache size and type, and the same clock
speed.
2. You can add memory modules to the server in any of
the following configurations:

memory (SDRAM) error checking and correction

