Enabling or disabling hot-swap rebuild:
The
default setting for the hot-swap rebuild parameter is
Disable. When you set the hot-swap rebuild parameter to
Enable, the ServeRAID controller can automatically rebuild
a defunct (DDD) drive when you replace it.
The ServeRAID controller will rebuild a defunct drive
automatically when all of the following conditions exist:
The hot-swap rebuild parameter is set to Enable.
The defunct drive is part of a RAID level 1 or RAID
level 5 logical drive.
The capacity of the replacement drive is equal to or
greater than the capacity of the defunct drive.
No rebuild, synchronization, or RAID level change
operation is in progress.
When these requirements are met, the ServeRAID
controller automatically initiates a rebuild of the drive
without user intervention.
To enable or disable hot-swap rebuild:
1. Start the ServeRAID configuration program (see
“Starting the ServeRAID Configuration program” on
page 77).
2. Select Advanced Functions from the Main Menu;
then, press Enter.
3. Select Display/Change Adapter Parameters from
the next menu; then, press Enter.
4. Select Enable/Disable Hot-Swap Rebuild; then,
press Enter.
