Updating the Advanced System
Management Processor code
Complete this procedure to update the advanced system
management processor code.
1. Insert the
IBM Netfinity 5500 M20 Advanced System
Management Processor Firmware Update Diskette
into the diskette drive.
2. Press Ctrl
+
Alt
+
Del to restart the server. The system
begins the power-on self-test (POST).
Information similar to the following will appear on the
screen.

Flash Utility
Select one:
1. Update Advanced System Management Processor
2. Update Watchdog Timer
3. Exit
Enter F1=Help F3=Exit

3. Select 1. Update Advanced System Management
Processor and press Enter.
A warning message appears on the screen with
information similar to the following.

Warning
This procedure will update the Advanced
System Management Processor code.
The
system must not lose power during this
operation.
Press Enter to continue with the update
or press Esc to cancel it.
Enter Esc=Cancel

4. Press Enter when you are ready to continue. Several
screens are displayed as the system upgrades the
microcode.
After a successful upgrade, a message similar to the
following appears.
