8.2 Diagnostic Items
(1) Wavelength
Accuracy
Peak is searched using a mercury (Hg) hollow cathode
lamp and it is confirmed that deviation from the actual
wavelength lies within the permissible range.
Wavelength accuracy is checked at 253.7, 546.1 and
871.6 nm.
(2) Baseline
Stability
Condition setting is executed using a copper (Cu) hollow
cathode lamp. After 30 min. stabilization, the change in
absorbance (due to noise/drift) in 5 minutes is measured to
confirm that the permissible range is met.
(3) Sensitivity
Copper (Cu) and calcium (Ca) standard solutions are
measured and the measured absorbance at a specific
concentration is checked to confirm it lies within the
permissible range. In the flame mode, use the standard
solution “Cu 1 mg/L”. In the emission mode, use the
standard solution “Ca 1 mg/L”.
(4) Repeatability
A standard solution is measured multiple times (10 times
repeatedly) to obtain a relative standard deviation.
The relative standard deviation is checked to confirm it lies
within the permissible range.
