(2) For the set Modifier, make entries for [Modifier Name],
[Volume] and [Addition].
Measurement can be performed without entering modifier
name.
Any volume of 1 to 20
L can be specified in [Volume], but
a volume of about 10
L is appropriate.
The volume of modifier is to be added to that of injected
sample. Hence, modifier volume must be determined so
that the total volume of modifier and sample will not
surpass the permissible injection volume of each cuvette.
Also, drying time should be extended when required as the
sample volume in the cuvette increases.
In [Addition], the order of the modifier injection before or
after sample (Pre or Post) is selectable. Injection after
sample may provide a higher reproducibility because a
palladium modifier, etc. has a high acid concentration and
is apt to disperse in the cuvette after injection. It is
recommended to select “Post” for better effectiveness on
constituents in the samples or “Pre” for suppressing
interaction between the cuvette surface and the samples.
NOTE
: Total volume of injection into a graphite cuvette is
given by the sum of (total addition volume of modifiers
1 to 4) + (Injection Vol. set in analytical condition
setup). This volume should not exceed the injection
volume allowed for the graphite cuvette.
(3) Set the modifiers in the specified cup numbers and start
measurement.
If a modifier will be consumed in a large volume, a large
container can be used.
Usually, a heating program is launched after sample and
modifier are injected in order. However, if a matrix modifier is
injected first, it may disperse extremely in the cuvette before
sample injection. In such a case, drying can be carried out
after injection of the matrix modifier. For using this function,
enter [Yes] for [Modifier Drying] in the [Modifier/QC Cup No.] tab
window.
