6.5 Using Spike Recovery (Check Recovery)
6 - 14
NOTE
: The total volume of injection into the graphite cuvette
is given by (sample injection volume) + (spike sample
volume) + (total addition volume of modifiers 1 to 4).
If this total volume exceeds the injection volume
allowed for the relevant graphite cuvette, an error will
be detected.
Spike
Conc.:
Input the concentration of spike sample.
Select an appropriate concentration level so that the
spike-added sample concentration will not surpass the
working curve range. (Use of a STD sample is
suitable.)
NOTE
: When specifying the same cup No. as a STD sample
or a Stock STD, spike concentration should be
matched with that of the standard sample.
Recovery Tolerance (%):
Specify the tolerance for recovery value, or allowable
deviation in a
percent value from recovery 100%.
Recovery is calculated by the following formula.
Recovery (%) =
Dilution Factor:
In case recovery is judged to be outside Recovery
Tolerance, the unknown sample may be diluted and
remeasured depending on specification.
For dilution, its factor needs to be specified here.
Input is effective within a range from 1.5 to 10.0 times.
[Sample Volume] stands for the volume of unknown
sample at dilution.
NOTES
: 1. Place a diluents on a location which is set in the
“Dilution cup No.” on [Autosampler] window.
2. The cup of diluent should have some excess
volume taking the number of measurements,
injection volume and minimum sample volume of
container into account.
3. In a dilution where an unknown sample is pipetted
in less than 5
L, the accuracy of sample injection
volume will fall to degrade analytical accuracy and
reproducibility. Input a dilution factor so that the
sample is pipetted in 5
L or more.
