Usage
Information
This features allows you to limit the number of multicast entries on the system. This number is
the sum total of all the multicast entries on all line cards in the system. On each line card, the
multicast module only installs the maximum possible number of entries, depending on the
configured CAM profile.
Use the IN-L3-McastFib CAM partition to store multicast routes. It is a separate hardware limit
that exists per port-pipe. Any software-configured limit might be superseded by this hardware
space limitation. The opposite is also true, the CAM partition might not be exhausted at the
time the system-wide route limit set by the
ip multicast-limit
command is reached.

After you enable multicast, you can enable IGMP and PIM on an interface. In INTERFACE
mode, enter the
ip pim sparse-mode
command to enable IGMP and PIM on the
interface.
