Additionally, the TWI signals are provided on separate pins, independent
of the ports.
Interface Overview
By default, all port F, port G, and port H pins are in general-purpose I/O
(GPIO) mode. In this mode, a pin can function as a digital input, digital
output, or interrupt input. See
“General-Purpose I/O Modules” on
page 9-13
for details. Peripheral functionality must be explicitly enabled
by the function enable registers (
PORTF_FER
,
PORTG_FER
, and
PORTH_FER
).
The competing peripherals on port F, port G, and port H are controlled
by the respective multiplexer control register (
PORTF_MUX
,
PORTG_MUX
,
PORTH_MUX
).
In this chapter, the naming convention for registers and bits uses a
lowercase
x
to represent F, G, or H. For example, the name
PORTx_FER
represents
PORTF_FER
,
PORTG_FER
, and
PORTH_FER
. The
bit name

represents
PF0
,
PG0
, and
PH0
. This convention is used
to discuss registers common to these three ports.
