. R o tate or replace cam lub ricato r, as required.
9. Set p o in t opening (.0 1 9 ” for new points).
10. Reinstall dust shield, ro to r, position and lock d istrib u to r
cap to housing.
11. S ta rt engine and test dwell and ignition tim ing.
Eight Cylinder Engine Distributor
1. The co n tac t poin t set is replaced as one com plete
assem bly and only dw ell angle requires ad justm ent after
replacem ent.
Breaker lever spring tension and point
alignment are factory set.
2. Rem ove th e distrib u to r cap b y placing a screwdriver in
th e slot head o f th e latch, press dow n and tu rn 1/4 tu rn
in eith er direction.
3. R em ove ro to r attaching screws and ro to r.
4. Loosen th e tw o attaching screws w hich hold th e base o f
th e c o n tac t set assem bly in place and slide set from
b reaker plate.
5. R em ove th e prim ary and condenser leads from their
n y lo n insulated conn ectio n (Fig. 2i) in c o n tac t set.

. Reverse Steps 2, 3 and 4 to install new c o n tac t set.
C A U T IO N : Install the prim ary and condenser
leads as shown in Figure 3i. Im proper installation
w ill cause lead interference between the cap, weight
base and breaker advance plate.
7. R o tate or replace cam lu b ricato r as required.

Six Cylinder Engine Distributor
The p o in t opening o f new points can be checked w ith a
feeler gauge, b u t the use o f a feeler gauge on rough or
uncleaned used points is n o t recom m ended since accurate
m echanical gauging cannot be done o n such points (Fig. 3i).
C ontacts points m ust be set to th e proper opening. Points
set too close m ay te n d to bu rn and pit rapidly. Points w ith
excessive separation te n d to cause a w eak spark at high speed.
P roper p o in t setting for all m odels are:
.019” for new points
.016” for used points
