T he b a tte ry is fully charged w hen over a tw o-hour period at
a low charging rate in am peres all cells are gassing freely (n o t

occurs. The full charge specific gravity is 1.260-1.280,
co rrec ted for electro ly te tem p eratu re w ith the electro ly te level

o r overfilling in w hich case th e specific gravity reading will be

service if it has p erform ed satisfactorily in the past.
An “ em ergency b o o st charge,” consisting o f a high charging
rate for a short p eriod o f tim e, m ay be applied as a tem porary
ex pedient in order to crank an engine. H ow ever, this
procedure usually supplies insufficient b a tte ry reserve to crank
a second and th ird tim e. T herefore, the “ em ergency b o o st
charge” m ust be follow ed by a subsequent charging period o f
sufficient duratio n to restore th e b a tte ry to a satisfactory state

When o u t o f th e vehicle, the sealed side term inal b a tte ry
will require adapters for the term inals to provide a place for
a ttac h m e n t o f th e charging leads. A dapters are available
th ro u g h local p arts service.
When th e sealed term inal b a tte ry is in th e vehicle, the studs
provided in th e wiring harness are suitable for atta c h m e n t o f

C A U T IO N :
Exercise care when attaching charger
leads to side term inal studs to avoid contact w ith
vehicle metal components which would result in
damage to the battery.
