Installation (Inner Valve)
1. Rem ove caps or tape from system connections an d install
the new valve assem bly using new “ O ” rings coated w ith
clean refrigeration oil.
2. Install the sensing b u lb , m aking sure th a t the bulb m akes
good c o n tac t w ith th e core o u tle t line.
3. Install the low er case and blow er m o to r assemblies.
4. Install the rear du ct as o u tlin ed previously.
5. C onnect th e b a tte ry ground cable and com pressor clutch
con n ecto r.
6. Evacuate, charge an d check th e system .

Removal (Outer Valve)
1. D isconnect th e b a tte ry ground cable and com pressor
c lu tch connector.
2. Purge th e system o f refrigerant.
3. R em ove th e rear d u ct as o u tlin ed previously.
4. D isconnect the blow er m o to r ground straps an d leads.
5. D isconnect th e refrigerant lines at th e rear o f th e blower-
evaporator assem bly.
6. Rem ove th e blow er-evaporator to ro o f panel, a tta c h ­
m ents and low er th e blow er-evaporator assem bly. R e ­
move the assem bly and place on a w ork b en c h upside
dow n.
7. R em ove th e low er to u pper case screws and rem ove the
low er case assem bly. Rem ove the u p p er sh ro u d from the
u p p er case and th e n rem ove th e u p p er case from the
core.
8. R em ove th e expansion valve bulb fro m th e evaporator
o u tle t line. R em ove th e expansion valve inlet an d o u tle t
lines and cap or tap e the open conhections at once.
R em ove th e valve.
Installation (Outer Valve)
1. R em ove th e caps or tape from the refrigerant co n ­
n ectio n s and install th e new valve using new “ O” rings
co ated w ith clean refrigeration oil.
2. Install the u p p er case to th e core m aking sure the sealing
strips are p o sitioned co rrectly . Install the u p p er shroud
on th e upper case.
3. Install the low er case an d blow er assemblies.
4. In stall the blow er-evaporator to th e r o o f panel.
5. C o n n ect th e refrigerant lines at the rear o f th e blower-
evaporator u n it using new “ 0 ” rings coated w ith clean
refrigeration oil.
6. C o n n ect th e blow er lead wires and ground straps.
7. Install th e rear duct as described previously.
8. C onnect th e b a tte ry ground cable and the com pressor
clu tch connector.
9. E vacuate, charge and check th e system .
EVAPORATOR CORE C-63 (Fig. 42)
Removal
1. D isconnect th e b a tte ry ground cable and com pressor
clu tch connector.
2. Purge the system o f refrigerant.
3. R em ove th e rear d u ct as o u tlin ed previously.
4. D isconnect the blow er m o to r leads an d ground wire.
5. D isconnect the refrigerant lines at th e rear o f th e blower-
evaporator assembly.
6. Rem ove the blow er-evaporator to ro o f panel attac h m e n ts
and lower th e blow er-evaporator assem bly. Rem ove the
assem bly an d place it on a w ork bench upside dow n.
7. Rem ove th e low er to upper case screws and remove the
low er case assem bly. Rem ove the u pper shroud and
u pper case from th e evaporator core.
8. Rem ove the expansion valve inlet and o u tle t lines and
cap or tape th e open connections at once. Rem ove the
expansion valve capillary bulbs from the evaporator
o u tle t line and rem ove the valves.
9. Rem ove th e plastic pins holding th e screen to the core
and rem ove th e screen.
Installation
1. Install the wire screen to th e fro n t o f th e new core and
insert th e plastic pins.
2. Install the expansion valve inlet an d o u tle t lines using
new “ 0 ” rings coated w ith clean refrigeration oil. Install
the sensing bulbs to th e evaporator o u tle t line. Make sure
the bulbs have good c o n tac t w ith the line.
N O T E : Add 3 oz. clean refrigeration oil when
installing a new core.
3. Install the u p p er case and u p p er shroud to the core.
4. Install the low er core case and blow er assemblies.
5. Install the blow er-evaporator to th e r o o f panel.
6. C onnect the refrigerant lines to th e blow er-evaporator
u n it using new “ 0 ” rings c o a te d w ith clean refrigeration
oil.
7. C onnect the blow er lead wires and ground straps.
8. Install the rear duct as o u tlin ed previously.
9. C onnect the b a tte ry ground cable and the com pressor
clutch connector.
10. Evacuate, charge and check th e system .
