7. T o install, a tta c h th e new cable to the 4 ’ piece o f wire.
T ape the m o u n tin g tab and a ttac h ed w ire. Carefully pull
th e new cable in to position.
8. Reverse Steps 1-5.
N O T E : If cable adjustm ent is required, see below.
Adjustment
1. D isconnect th e b a tte ry ground cable.
2.
A ir and Defroster Door Cables—
U nsnap th e engine cover
fro n t latches. R em ove th e tw o cover to floorpan screws
and rem ove th e engine cover.
3. Pry o ff th e ap p ro p riate cable eyelet clip and disconnect
th e cable from th e door.
4. Rem ove th e cable retaining screw.
5. While holding th e cable w ith pliers, ro tate th e m ounting
ta b on th e cable to lengthen or shorten the cable,
w hichever is required.
N O T E : Do not pinch the cable to o tig h tly or
damage to the cable could result.
6. Install th e cable, reversing Steps 1-4.
BLOWER SWITCH
Replacement (Fig. 8)
1. D isconnect the b a tte ry ground cable.
2. D isconnect the blow er sw itch wiring harness co n n e cto r at
th e sw itch.
3. Rem ove th e tw o sw itch attaching screws and rem ove the
sw itch assem bly.
4. T o install a new sw itch, reverse Steps 1-3 above.
N O T E : Make certain the switch arm bushing is in
place and th at the arm and bushing engage the
slotted opening in the A IR -F A N lever when in ­
stalling the switch.
RESISTOR
Repacement (Fig. 10)
1. D isconnect th e wiring harness at the resistor connector.
2. Rem ove th e tw o resistor to dash m ounting screws and
rem ove th e resistor.
3. T o install a new resistor, reverse Steps 1 and 2 above.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A n auxiliary heater is available as a dealer installed
accessory to provide ad d itio n al heating capacity fo r th e rear­
m o st ex trem ities o f th e Chevy V an and Sportvan m odels.
This unit operates entirely indep en d en t o f th e standard
heater and is regulated th ro u g h its ow n controls a t the
in stru m e n t panel.
This system consists o f a separate core and fan unit
m o u n te d either under th e second seat o r a t th e le ft side o f the
vehicle (Fig. 11). H eater hoses extend from th e u n it to the
fro n t o f th e vehicle w here th e y are co nnected to th e standard
h eater hoses w ith “ tees” . An “ o n - o f f ’ w ater valve is installed
in th e h ea te r core inlet line in th e engine co m p artm en t. This
valve m ust be o p erated m a n u a lly - “ o n ” for cold w eather,
“ o f f ’ in w arm w eather. The purpose o f th e valve is to c u t o ff
coolant flow to th e auxiliary core during w arm w eather and
elim inate th e radiant h ea t th a t w ould result.
CONTROLS
Tw o m eth o d s o f co n tro l are em ployed w ith this system :
Water Valve (Fig. 12)
When h ea t is desired, th e w ater valve m ust be in th e “ o n ”
p osition (valve located in the engine co m p artm e n t in th e core
in le t line). During th e sum m er m o n th s, this valve should be
placed in the “ o f f ’ position.
