Replacement
1. Rem ove th e sealing strip at the forw ard edge o f the duct.
2. Rem ove th e ro o f panel trim strip.
3. Rem ove rear dom e light.
4. R em ove th e screws securing th e rear duct.
5. Rem ove th e d u ct fro m the retaining flanges at the rear,
side and fro n t retainers (in th a t order).
6. P ry the ferrules o u t o f the drain tubes and disconnect the
drain tubes from th e rear duct.
7. Rem ove th e d u ct assem bly.
8. T o install, reverse Steps 1-7 above.
BLOWER MOTOR ASSEMBLIES (C-63)
Removal (Fig. 40)
1. D isconnect the b a tte ry ground cable and com pressor
clutch co n n ecto r.
2. Rem ove the rear duct as o u tlin ed previously.
3. Rem ove th e blow er m o to r ground straps at th e center
co n n e cto r betw een the m otors.
4. D isconnect the blow er m o to r lead wires.
5. Rem ove the low er to u p p er blow er-evaporator case
screws and low er th e low er case an d m o to r assemblies.
W A R N IN G : Before removing the case screws, sup­
p ort the lower case to prevent damage to the case or
m otor assemblies.
6. Rem ove th e m o to r retaining strap an d rem ove the m o to r
an d w heels. Rem ove the wheels from the m o to r shaft.
Installation
1. Place th e blow er wheels o n to th e m o to r shaft and install
the set screws; do n o t tighten th e set screws at this tim e.
C A U T IO N : Be sure th a t the blower wheels are
installed as shown in the Service M anual.

2. Install th e blow er m o to r retaining strap and foam .
3. Place th e tw o blow er m o to r and w heel assemblies into
the low er case. Align th e blow er wheels so th a t th e y do
n o t c o n tac t th e case and th e n tig h ten th e w heel set
screws.
4. Place th e low er case an d blow er m o to r assemblies in
position in th e vehicle and install th e low er to u pper case
screws.
N O T E : Rotate the blower wheels to make sure
th at they do n ot rub on the case.
5. Install th e center ground wires and connect th e blow er
lead wires.
6. Install the rear d u c t assem bly as described previously.
7. C onnect th e b a tte ry ground cable a n d com pressor clutch
connector.
EXPANSION V A LV E S (C-63)
This system inco rp o rates tw o expansion valves. These valves
do n o t use the external equalizer line.
Removal (Inner Valve)
1. D isconnect th e b a tte ry ground cable and com pressor
clutch connector.
2. Purge th e system o f refrigerant.
3. Rem ove th e rear d u ct as o u tlin ed previously.
4. D isconnect th e c e n te r ground wire an d the blow er m otor
lead wires. Rem ove th e low er to u p p er case screws and
low er th e low er case and blow er m o to r assemblies.
W A R N I N G : Before removing the low er case
screws, support the case to prevent damage to the
case or m otor assemblies.
5. D isconnect th e valve sensing bulb fro m th e core o u tle t
line.
6. D isconnect th e core in le t and o u tle t lines and rem ove the
valve assem bly. Cap o r tape th e o pen connections at
once.
