connect fro n t brake pipe a t equalizer tee and connect
rear brake pipe a t left fram e rail connector.
12. Install cross shaft an d connect clutch linkage an d /o r
transm ission linkage as o u tlined in Section 7.
13. C onnect the follow ing item s:
• F uel line (from ta n k ) a t fuel pum p.
• Engine ground strap(s).
• Steering idler arm a t fram e.
• Steering p itm an arm a t steering gear—to rq u e n u t to
specifications.
• S tabilizer shaft a t fram e brackets.
• B attery positive cable at starter.
• S hock absorbers at low er co n tro l arm .
• S peedom eter cable at transm ission.
• TCS sw itch a t transm ission—install TCS wire to clip
at transm ission/clutch housing.
• E xhaust crossover a t m uffler an d a t m anifolds.
14. Low er vehicle on hoist.
15. C onnect pow er brake vacuum hose at tube-to-hose
ju n c tio n .
16. C o n n ect E vaporation C o n tro l System lines at rocker arm
cover an d carburetor.
17. C o n n ect TCS system electrical leads at valve an d at
tem p eratu re sw itch—positio n harness in rocker arm cover
clips.
18. Install D elcotron and su p p o rt assem bly.
19. C onnect accelerator linkage a t dash m ounted bell crank.
20. Install carb u re to r air cleaner and oil filler tu b e —connect
oil pressure gauge line if so equipped.
21. C onnect engine wiring harness at dash panel ju n c tio n
block.
22. Install rad ia to r and fan shroud, co n n e ct rad ia to r and
h eater hoses, install au to m atic transm ission cooler lines
an d fill cooling system .
23. Install engine cover.
24. C onnect b a tte ry ground cable at engine block and at
b a tte ry .
25. Bleed fro n t and rear brakes as o u tlin ed in Section 5.
26. S tart engine, check a n d add engine coolant as required
and check engine for p ro p er o p era tio n .
IN TA K E M A N IF O L D
Removal
1. Drain rad iato r an d rem ove air cleaner.
2. D isconnect:
• B attery cables a t b attery .
• U pper rad iato r hose and heater hose a t m anifold.
• A ccelerator linkage at pedal lever.
• Fuel line at carburetor.
• Crankcase ventilation lines (as required).
• S p ark advance hose at distrib u to r.
3. Rem ove d istrib u to r cap and m ark ro to r position w ith
chalk, th e n rem ove distrib u to r.
4. Rem ove (as required) oil filler b rac k et, air cleaner
brack et, coil, accelerator re tu rn spring and b rac k et, and
accelerator bellcrank.
5. Rem ove m anifold attaching bolts, then remove m anifold
and carb u re to r as an assem bly. Discard gaskets and seals.

. If m anifold is to be replaced, transfer:
• C arb u reto r and carb u re to r m ounting studs.
• Oil pressure sending unit.
• W ater o u tle t and th e rm o stat (use new gasket).
Installation
1. Clean gasket an d seal surfaces on m anifold, block, and
cylinder heads.
2. Install m anifold seals o n blo ck and gaskets o n cylinder
heads (Fig. 7V ). Use sealer at w ater passages and where
seals b u tt to gaskets.
3. Install m anifold and to rq u e bolts to specifications in the
sequence o u tlin ed on th e to rq u e sequence chart.
