u p p er co n tro l arm shaft.
Camber
1. D e te rm in e th e cam ber angle fro m the alignm ent
equipm ent.
2. A dd or su b trac t shim s from b o th the fro n t and rear bolts
to affect a change.
Toe-in
1. D e te r m in e th e w heel toe-in from the alignm ent
equipm ent.
2. Change th e length o f b o th tie rod sleeves to affect a toe
change. T orque tie rod clam ps to specifications.
T rucks w ithin these tolerances from th e m ean specification
are safe and n o t hazardous w ith respect to alignm ent effects
on o p eratio n and handling. Settings outside these lim its are
n o t necessarily unsafe; however, custom er dissatisfaction, due
to steering pull or tire wear m ay occur or the vehicle m ay be in
a dam aged condition.
Definitions
Service Checking
Values w ith in these lim its should provide a high level o f
custom er satisfaction and should n o t require resetting.
Service Reset
Values th a t th e vehicle should be set w ith in if it is observed
o u t o f th e service checking tolerance, or if it is being aligned
due to replacem ent o f com ponents, or for any o th e r reasons.

COMPONENT PARTS REPLACEMENT
C A U T IO N : This hub to spindle fastener is an
im portant attaching part in th a t it could affect the
performance o f vital components and systems,
and/or could result in major repair expense. It must
be replaced w ith one o f the same part number or
w ith an equivalent part if replacement becomes
necessary. Do not use a replacement part o f lesser
quality or substitute design. Torque values must be
used as specified during reassembly to assure proper
retention o f this part.
WHEEL HUBS & BEARINGS
Removal
1. Raise vehicle o n h o ist and rem ove w heel and tire as­
sem bly. Rem ove dust cap from end o f hub and w ithdraw
c o tte r pin.
2. Rem ove th e brake caliper an d hang b y a wire to the
suspension.
3. Rem ove hu b and disc assembly.
4. Rem ove o u te r bearing from h u b . The inner bearing will
rem ain in the hu b and m ay be rem oved by prying o u t the
inner grease seal.
5. Wash all parts in cleaning solvent.
Inspection
1. Check all bearings for cracked bearing cages, w orn or
p itte d rollers.
2. C heck bearing races for cracks or scoring, check brake
discs for out-of-round or scored co n d itio n and check
bearing o uter races for looseness in hubs.
Repairs
Replacement o f Bearing Cups
I f necessary to replace an o u te r race, drive o u t old race
from th e hub w ith a brass d rift inserted b ehind race in notches
in h u b . Install new race b y driving it in to h u b w ith th e proper
race installer. Rem ove th e inner race in the same m anner.
C A U T IO N : Use care when installing new race to
start it squarely into hub, to avoid distortion and
possible cracking.
T horoughly lubricate bearing assemblies w ith new high
m elting p o in t wheel-bearing lubricant. Rem ove any excess
lu bricant.
